Hi everyone, I am Joseph Dallesandro who is a Freshman here at Commonwealth University of Bloomsburg. Currently I am 18 years old, about to turn 19 in the next couple of weeks and I graduated high school at Delaware Valley High School located in Milford, PA. The first major thing that people might be surprised to know about me is that I practiced Martial Arts for over 6 years at a place called Haganah located in Milford, PA. I learned different types of fighting such as kickboxing, boxing, Ju jitsu, and etc. by adults who either served in the military or were cops in law enforcement. I had a great time learning different defense techniques and getting to know the people in my community more overtime. It made me change physically in which I was able to get stronger as well as mentally since I looked at the world differently after being surrounded by responsible adults. At the end of my time their, I was able to achieve my black belt which I was so happy to accomplish and it was one of the biggest milestones currently in my life that I will always look back on for the rest of my life.
The second major thing that people might be surprised to find out about me is that I am a huge nerd when it comes to anime and manga. I got into this type of media during 2021 and have been obsessed with it since in which I collect hundreds of manga, in case you don't know what manga is, it's basically a Japanese comic. Whenever I have down time I usually spend my time either watching a certain anime or reading manga. Spending time in this type of hobby usually helps me relax after a long day at either school or work.
The final major quality of mine that people wouldn't assume is that I am a huge fan of Marvel and some parts of DC ever since I was a young child. My favorite characters are Spiderman and Batman in which I enjoy seeing them the most on the big screen whenever something gets published for them. These two characters specifically have given me very valuable lessons that I use on a daily basis such as the iconic line, "With great power, comes great responsibility". I love the storytelling because of how in-depth these movies get into since there are so many movies that connect to one another, whether it's Marvel or DC. I also enjoy the action that is directed throughout these movies in which they do a fantastic job almost every time. It keeps me on the edge of my seat whenever I am in the theater watching them. The last movie that I saw that relates to these two is
Spiderman Brand New Day which I enjoyed a lot and was very impressed on how the directors took the story.
These three interests/hobbies of mine describe me the most in which I enjoy every moment spent on these and put a lot of time into them. There are many other characteristics of mine that were not described in this blog but I believe these three have a huge part over the course of my life. I've never watched any of the Spiderman movies which is something most people are shocked to hear, but I think it's so cool that those characters have taught you lessons that you'll always carry with you!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love when people can take lessons from superheroes. That is one of the most important parts of them. I still need to see the new Spider-Man, but I am very excited. Also, martial arts is seriously cool and underrated!
ReplyDeleteSuperhero narratives are big in my household as well, as you perhaps gathered from my large collection of Marvel and DC female Funko pops in my office. I enjoyed the most recent Spiderman film a lot. My partner and I are currently working our way through the Nic Cage Spider Noir series.
