In a small doctor's office in Frackville Pennsylvania, it may seem calm as slow as the waiting room, but behind the “staff only” doors there are constant hard workers. Phones ring every so often; patients arrive for their scheduled appointments, medical equipment can be heard, and staff members move between the building throughout the day. Among the many staff is an assistant nurse whose responsibilities extend far beyond simply just “assisting” the doctor. From checking patients before appointments, drawing blood, recording important information, the position requires medical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work comfortably with many types of people.
(Reword this it sounds a bit weird and doesn't make sense for some parts!)
A typical patient visit begins with the assistant nurse gathering important information before the patient meets with the doctor. Vital signs such as blood pressure temperature and weight are usually reordered, while questions about the patients' health are brought up. These tasks can seem like a simple routine, but the accuracy you need is very important. The assistant nurse also has to keep the process moving while making patients feel comfortable and listened to.
One of the more hands-on responsibilities is drawing blood. To the assistant nurse the task comes as a second nature. (I started writing on paper but i left it at the doctors office so i need to wait for my mom to send me a picture smh)
