Who am I Blog
Hello! My name is Fox Laubach, and I am a Secondary Education-Mathematics major. I am from Northumberland, Pennsylvania, where I went to Shikellamy High School. But, I did not go there the entire time. For my junior year, I attended Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA). I did this as I needed a bit of a social break and I wanted more flexible hours for schooling. While I loved the teachers, I found that the purely online courses of CCA are not for me as I would not learn properly without dedicating a lot of extra time; something I couldn't do while I was working and doing other things. I am also in theatre. I have been participating in shows since my 8th grade year. My first show was The Lightning Thief, the Percy Jackson musical, where I was in the ensemble with a singular line as rockstar Kurt Cobain (don't ask). Alongside high school theatre, I performed in 2 youth shows with Anne Miles Youth Theatre (Moana Jr and Newsies Jr). My senior year was a change for my theatre journey as I auditioned for and performed in my first play. This was Miracle on 34th Street, where I played Judge Harper. This year I also performed in my first community theatre show. This was 1776, where I played founding father from New York Robert Livingston. He, Roger Sherman, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson were tasked with drafting the Declaration of Independence (though as we all know, Jefferson ended up writing the document). I performed in this show alongside my father, who had returned to the stage for the first time sing high school, playing Roger Sherman! I have also been in Marching Band. I played the trumpet in this group for Shikellamy for 5 years starting my 7th grade year, only taking off my 11th grade year. Throughout that time, I also played in multiple community bands, including Sunbury City Band. This band is under the direction of Tom Gegenheimer, who is also the assistant director of the Bloomsburg Marching Band. Due to this prior connection, Tom asked me to play the mellophone this year, instead of the trumpet. For the uninitiated, the mellophone is a marching French horn, which looks like a big trumpet. It has been a bit of an adjustment, but I love this instrument and my section. Overall, I love college right now.

Hi Fox! Your band a theatre skills are very impressive! I was never one to get involved in those kinds of things in High School.
ReplyDeleteHey Fox! I played trumpet for one year, but was not good with it at all in which I was very confused on how to get the right note sometimes. I'm very curious to hear your performances when playing the trumpet. I am shocked with the amount of theatre performances that you have done over your high school years, wonder if you will join any theatre performances that might happen at this college.
ReplyDeleteI have recently been cast in the musical improv series, BUSTED. So, fret not, my theatre experience will continue on!
DeleteSounds like theatre was a big part of your life. You should look at being involved with the BU Players. My partner is the Director of Theatre at Bloomsburg and he teaches technical aspects of theatre.
